The Olmsted Cross-California Trail is being developed to roughly follow the 39th parallel line across California, from Mendocino to Lake Tahoe, and once completed, will realize a 40+ year dream of MTC founder, John Olmsted. The trail will link existing trails and The MTC is in the process of developing additional trails to link them together with the goal of creating one contiguous trail across California. The trail will start at Jug Handle State Reserve and end behind the Gatekeepers House in Tahoe City. Significant portions of the western and eastern sections were hiked and mapped in 2011 by MTC board members Kristen and Stephen Hein.
