This segment of the Cross-California Trail is currently the most complete long-distance route. As of last season, it is possible to hike 125 mile from the westernmost end of the Independence trail, up the South Yuba canyon , across the northern Sierra through flower fields, deep fir forests and granite lakes and to connect with the Pacific Crest and Tahoe Rim trails , providing access to Lake Tahoe at several locations.
Seeking volunteers for a trail maintenance day May 19th, 2012.
We will be working on the lower section of this trail near Edwards Crossing on the Yuba River.
To volunteer, send a message on our contact form and we will get back to you with all the details.
